Spring Releases and Super Ego Event
Celebrate the new Spring Wine Releases at Therapy Vineyards, including the unveiling of this year's Artist Series Viognier 2007. The new artist series features a painting from local artist, Bill Hibberd, entitled "Sunoka". Proceeds from the sale of this wine will be donated to the "South Okanagan Women in Need Society" (SOWINS).
Samples of the new releases will be enjoyed in the gardens of Therapy Vineyards. Delicious appetizers will be offered while listening to live music from the Malarkeys, a four piece Celtic rock band from Kelowna. "Things of Beauty = Joy Forever"
An multi-dimensional art exhibition runs from May 3 until July 2 at Art Studio & Gallery: Unique, 3270 Rushberry Place, Naramata. Artists include Petronella van den Berg (acrylics and sculptures), Barry Rafuse (oil and acrylics), Philip Coleman (acrylics), Darcy Polny (pastels), Sophia Zang (potter), Keith Harvey (wood turnings), Patti Smithson and Ron Sawatsky (sculptures). The opening reception will take place on May 3rd from 7:00pm to 9:00 pm. with all the artists in attendance. Opening song will be performed by Sharon Wiener. Exhibit hours are daily from 10:30 am until 5:00 pm. |

May Day
Naramata will be celebrating its 85th annual May Day. This is a Naramata Elementary School and Naramata Recreation Commission co-sponsored event. The festivities begin at 8:30 am with old-fashioned Soap Box races on Ellis Street. The rest of the day takes place at Manitou Park with the Queen's Ball in the evening. 10:30 am - crowning of our 2008 May Queen-elect, Meg Cummings, followed by traditional May Pole dancing performed by Grade 2, 3 and 4 students. Decorated Bicycle Contest, Highland Dancing. 11:30 am - Concessions - hamburgers, hot dogs, pop, juice, coffee, cookies, souvenirs. 1:00pm Races - open to all ages, preschool to adult. 7:00 pm - Queen's Ball at Columbia Hall. This is a free dance for everyone from toddlers to grandparents. |

Late Spring & Summer Maintenance of Perennials
After a how-to demonstration, we will clean up spring bulbs and prune spring blooming perennials to enhance their appearance and encourage optimum blooming for next year. We'll identify and clean up weeks and remove unwanted baby plants. Then we'll focus on how to keep the perennial garden in prime condition throughout the summer. Learn how to treat each variety of summer blooming plants in the garden to optimize their blooming time and foliage all season Long. Tools, staking, watering and mulches will be discussed. Classes are at Naramata Centre's Sacred Garen with Gwen Steele. Cost is $40 including lunch, or $100 for three Saturdays. The other two are on Mar.29th and Oct. 25th.
